Never attempt to remove a stain yourself. No matter what stains make it onto your dress leave them. Don’t put white wine on top of red wine, don’t sprinkle with salt, don’t dab, don’t rub or rinse the stain. PLEASE LEAVE IT ALONE. You will only force the stain deeper into the centre of the fibre.

Never use a domestic iron on your wedding dress.

Your dress should be dry cleaned to try and remove any stains before they ‘set’ and also to slow down or stop the derogatory effects or perspiration, perfumes and deodorants, which if left will gradually rot your gown or cause permanent yellowing.

There are a number of other causes of yellowing and discolouration which early dry cleaning and stain removal can prevent.
